This paper uses synthetic samples to demonstrate the processing method. The code has been verified using examples in an isolated environment; this does not guarantee effectiveness for all real-world files or products. Before processing important files, please retain the original copies and verify them against the boundaries and acceptance criteria outlined in this document.
The file was halfway written when the service restarted, yet the download link had already been made available to users. Such failures are not as simple as “the file occasionally fails to open”; rather, the system treats an incomplete output as the official result. The appropriate remedy should be designed around release boundaries, rather than merely wrapping the write operation in an exception handler.
First write the temporary file, then replace the official entry point.
In the local file system, a common approach is to write a temporary file in the target directory, and after completing the write and closing the file, call
os.replace
. Placing files in the same directory can avoid the common issue of cross-filesystem replacement. Atomic replacement only specifies which name the reader sees; it does not guarantee that the data will persist after a power outage.
uses a state diagram to specify the release sequence
does not actually create or overwrite files; instead, it validates the delivery plan: replacement of the official path is permitted only after writing, closing, and content verification have all been completed. The actual file writer must also handle exception cleanup, permissions, and platform-specific differences.
def publish_plan(written, closed, content_ok, same_filesystem):
if not written:
return ("write_temporary",)
if not closed:
return ("close_temporary",)
if not content_ok:
return ("quarantine_temporary",)
if not same_filesystem:
return ("prepare_destination_temporary",)
return ("replace_destination", "confirm_readable", "mark_ready")
assert publish_plan(False, False, False, True) == ("write_temporary",)
assert publish_plan(True, False, True, True) == ("close_temporary",)
assert publish_plan(True, True, False, True) == ("quarantine_temporary",)
assert "mark_ready" not in publish_plan(True, True, True, False)
assert publish_plan(True, True, True, True)[-1] == "mark_ready"
This is a protocol test, not a power-loss experiment. If stronger durability guarantees are required, further research into file and directory synchronization, disk and file system semantics, and fault injection verification will be necessary. Do not present a single successful read/write operation as “power-loss safety has been proven.”

object storage should not be forcibly renamed
object storage typically does not have directory-renaming semantics identical to those of a local file system. It is more appropriate to use immutable object keys and update the formal pointer in the database only after the upload has completed and been verified. If a CDN is also involved, the cache key and the retention of the old version must be considered as well.
translation completion should include file delivery

OmniDoc (product entry point)
When the processing status is received for your own product, do not immediately display “processing complete” as indicating a successful local download. Instead, confirm that the saved translation file is readable and of the correct format before setting the task as deliverable. For the user, completion ultimately means obtaining a file that can be opened.
